Need A Water Sample Collection Kit?
Request a water sample collection kit to help you complete your annual water testing requirements. Once you receive your kit, be sure to follow the instructions provided, use the required and Crown Royal Stoves official Control Chemical, and submit your annual water sample for testing.
Important: Requesting a kit does not fulfill the annual water treatment requirement. Your annual water sample must be submitted for testing to qualify for warranty coverage.
Why Water Treatment Matters
Water quality plays an important role in the performance and longevity of an outdoor furnace. Crown Royal Stoves are manufactured with 409 Titanium Enhanced Stainless Steel for excellent corrosion resistance, but water chemistry can still affect the internal components of your furnace over time.
Calcium and magnesium, which are commonly found in many water supplies, can contribute to scale buildup. Scale can reduce heat transfer efficiency and contribute to pitting on the interior of the water jacket, potentially leading to leaks and premature system damage.
Proper water treatment helps protect against corrosion and scale buildup. When the Crown Royal Stoves official Control Chemical is added to the system, it helps create a protective barrier that supports the longevity and performance of the furnace.
Use Water with Approved Control Chemical
Control Chemical is specially formulated for use in the water of Crown Royal Stoves. To maintain warranty eligibility, the furnace must be filled with water and treated with Crown Royal Stoves approved Control Chemical. No other chemical may be substituted. You can purchase additional Control Chemical through your local Crown Royal Stoves dealer. If your dealer is unavailable, contact Crown Royal Stoves directly for assistance.
Sample Bottles and Shipping Labels
Two sample bottles and two labels are included with every gallon of Control Chemical. Replacement bottles and labels are available at no charge through your local dealer or by contacting Crown Royal Stoves.
Annual Water Treatment Is Required
Crown Royal Stoves are backed with a 20 Year Limited Warranty. To maintain warranty coverage, Crown Royal Stoves requires the use of its approved Control Chemical and the submission of annual water samples for testing.
Failure to maintain treatment at recommended levels and complete annual water testing will result in voided warranty coverage. Because water supplies vary, water chemistry and treatment requirements may change over time. Regular testing helps identify changes and determine whether additional treatment is needed.
Free Water Testing
Submitted water samples are tested by trained professionals who analyze key water chemistry factors including conductivity, pH , nitrite and chloride levels. Testing results may include recommendations for corrective action to help support the longevity of your outdoor stove/furnace/boiler/hydronic heater.
Testing results and recommendations typically take approximately 4-6 weeks to be emailed or mailed. Results will be classified either as Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory. Unsatisfactory results will include instructions for necessary corrective actions and request for new water samples to be submitted for testing.
Water Treatment & Sample Gathering
1. Add Control Chemical
Immediately add the required Crown Royal Stoves approved Control Chemical, then fill the furnace with water. The best water to use is distilled water. Your local dealer can test your water before filling to make sure the chlorides in your water are low enough to be used. Add Control Chemical at a rate of 1 gallon for every 200 gallons of stove water.
2. Circulate and check for leaks
Circulate the water for 48 hours and check the furnace for leaks.
3. Collect your water samples
Turn off furnace and allow water to cool to a safe temperature before collecting your samples. Fill the provided 4 oz. sample with the treated water.
4. Submit your sample
Complete the provided label form. Submit the labeled samples to our testing facility for analysis. If your results are unsatisfactory, please follow the recommendations provided and submit another sample for testing as required.
