With the holidays approaching and added family and friends, you may be tempted to burn some of your extra household garbage in your wood boiler. Greentech Manufacturing Inc. and Crown Royal Stoves want you to know that this is not only damaging to the environment, but it can cause holiday havoc on your furnace and void your warranty.
Unlike seasoned firewood, household garbage contains chemicals that are emitted into the air when they are burned. You really don’t know what the pollutants can be. The chemicals that are emitted from garbage can and will cause corrosion and other damage, not to mention the little heat and large amounts of ash that it produces.
Crown Royal Stoves are safety tested and certified to ensure that when properly installed and used, they will work well and not be hazardous. This testing does not involve fuels such as household garbage. Crown Royal High Efficiency Wood Gasification Furnaces are designed to burn only clean, dry wood. Clean wood means wood that has no paint, stains or other type of coatings. It also includes wood that has not been treated with preservatives.
Never burn garbage, gasoline, drain oil, naptha, engine oil, railroad ties, particle board, leaves, cardboard or any flammable liquids. The stove warranty will be voided if the furnace is used to burn materials for which the unit is not certified by the EPA. This means, burning any other material other than “clean, dry wood” will VOID your warranty. Don’t let the extra garbage from the holidays tempt you into ruining your investment.
